Declined To Be Interviewed Blues

The water he was reportedly dumped in
declined to be interviewed,
Bin Laden's DNA declined to be interviewed
and the fish, the honeybees, and caged chickens
all declined to be interviewed.

At night, pacing the rooms
wondering what in the world to believe anymore . . .
but the brandy declined to be interviewed,
my refrigerator declined to be interviewed,
even looked in the mirror
but all the face would tell me is
to shave.

The interviewer too busy interviewing someone
declined to be interviewed.

Went for a walk,
figuring nature would provide some answers.
Spring's robin looked at me then hopped away,
and the astoundingly beautiful cherry blossoms
declined to be interviewed,
but at least the sun
(who reportedly shines on both evil and good people)
had the decency to say
that he was too busy shining on everybody
to bother
to be interviewed.
