Canada has recently suspended its diplomatic ties with
Iran, accusing Iran of being a “significant threat to global peace and security in the world today”. The move is attributed to U.S.-Israel pressure to create
a coalition front and provide a façade of “international” legitimacy to justify
aggression against Iran.
Let’s
take a look at Israel. This is an illegitimate oppressive regime created by
Zionist terrorism on Palestinian land. Israel espouses a religio-fascist
ideology of ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinians. Successive
Israeli leaders from David Ben-Gurion to the self-styled thug Benjamin
Netanyahu have been fascist maniacs. Israel openly practises apartheid and
discriminatory policies. From its inception, Israel refuses to comply with all
United Nations resolutions pertaining to its obligations to end its illegal occupation
of Palestinian land and its cruel and inhumane treatment of the Palestinian
people. Israel
imprisons thousands of innocent Palestinian women, children and young men
without charges. Israel imposes a military siege to starve 1.5 million
Palestinian civilians imprisoned in the Israeli-controlled Gaza Concentration
Camp. Israel uses Palestinian children (often while
peacefully playing soccer) as training targets to kill. Israel is a militarised
state that has a large arsenal of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, and
refuses to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty. In addition to its
occupation of Palestinian land, Israel continues to illegally occupy Syrian and
Lebanese lands. Israel routinely attacks other nations, including Lebanon and
the Palestinian civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Israel
continues with threats to bomb Iran pre-emptively. Israel plans and materially
supports acts of terrorism around the world, including the assassination of Palestinian
political activists and Iranian scientists. There is overwhelming evidence of
Israel’s foreknowledge and complicity in the 9/11 attacks. Israel has been
found to be among the world’s worst violators of human rights. Israel and the
U.S. are rightly condemned by the majority of the world’s people as the
greatest threats to world’s peace and security today.
“Imagine the situation to be reversed”, writes
Noam Chomsky, a long-time observer of Israel-U.S. terrorism in the region.
“Iran is carrying out a murderous and destructive low-level war against Israel
with great-power participation. Its leaders announce that negotiations are
going nowhere … Throughout, Iran enjoys the [unconditional financial, military
and diplomatic] support of its superpower patron. Iranian leaders are therefore
announcing their intention to bomb Israel, and prominent Iranian military
analysts report that the attack may happen before the U.S. elections”, added
Chomsky (See Chomsky: Why America and Israel are the greatest threats to peace).
Despite
the great danger posed by Israel to world’s peace and security, the mainstream
Western media and Western politicians have made the mantra of “Israel’s
security is under threat” an obsession. Israel is portrayed and repeated ad nauseam, as
a “civilised” nation “defending itself” against “fanaticism”. Even if
peace-loving Westerners are murdered by the Israeli army, the victims are
blamed for being “reckless” and in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Can you imagine Canada suspending its ties with Israel
based on Israel’s “significant
threat to global peace and security in the world today”? The answer is, never.
The far-right extremist Government of Prime Minister
Stephen Harper or the “Ugly Canadian” is an ardent supporter of Israel’s
terror. Not only has Canada endorsed every Israeli act of terrorism, mounting evidence
shows that Israeli terrorists (and Mossad agents) used Canadian passports (among
others) to commit acts of terrorism around the world, including the
assassinations of Palestinian politicians and Iranian scientists. Canada has
several military and security agreements with the Israeli fascist regime,
including the monitoring of Canadian citizens (Muslims) on behalf of
Israel. As a nation pretends to be sovereign,
Canada is completely dominated by the U.S. and the pro-Israel Jewish lobby. Canada,
like all U.S. vassals, has no foreign policy of its own. Canadian forces are
complicit in every major U.S. war of aggression. The Canadian Government is a
tool used by the U.S. and Zionists to serve U.S.-Israel Zionist interests. The
demonization of Iran, the illegal economic sanctions and the military threats directed
at Iran are part of an on-going campaign to soften the public for an all-out
war of aggression against Iran.
We
all know that, Iran is a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and
allows inspections of its nuclear facilities. Iran has called for a
nuclear-weapons-free zone in the region. Iran
has no nuclear weapon and has no nuclear program to develop one. Iran is complying with all UN resolutions pertaining to its
nuclear program. (See my: Targeting
Iran). Iran has not threatened to attack other nations. For its
peaceful international relations policy, Iran is supported by the overwhelming
majority of the world’s people and governments (the real international
community). The recent Nonaligned Movement (NAM) meeting in Tehran is a case in
point.
Regarding
the Canadian decision, the Iranian Government has rightly called the Canadian
Government of Stephen Harper “racist” and “hostile” towards Iranians. An
Iranian Government statement said: “The closure of the visa
section of the Canadian Embassy in Tehran, freezing
the bank accounts of Iranian nationals living in Canada, and prohibiting money
transfers to Iranian students studying in that country are among the Canadian
government’s numerous hostile measures against the Iranian nation and the
Iranian community in Canada.”
Canada’s decision to suspend diplomatic ties with Iran is unprovoked
hostility towards the people of Iran. It denies the people of Canada the
opportunity to have friendly relations with peaceful nations and sacrifices Canada’s
national interests for the sake of an outlaw Zionist state.
