Same Difference

everything makes a difference,
everything makes a same

table for five for dinner,
summer’s intermittent rain

people go wandering on side roads,
people go places at home

and all that is transitory melts
like a big ol’ ice cream cone

everything changes but the changeless,
nothing stays the same

time itself is a healer
some people can’t be tamed

everything makes a difference,
everything makes a same

for some people nothing is everything
and nothing stays the same

every which way you look at it
the seasons live one long loop

close your eyes and you’ll see it,
summer’s intermittent cold soup

some feel it’s all about sharing,
some think it’s all a game

everyone makes a difference,
everyone makes a same
