Developing Story.

There were reports of multiple incidents of gunfire in Ottawa, Canada's capital. The first incident happened at the Canadian War Memorial, near Parliament Hill. Eye witnesses indicate that a suspect shot a uniformed ceremonial soldier standing near the Canadian War Memorial, 500 meters away from the Canadian Parliament. The soldier was been taken to hospital, where he later died.

The shooter then ran toward the Parliament buildings, where he commandeered a vehicle and drove it to the front of the Centre Block building. The suspect then entered the building where there was an exchange of gunfire. Josh Wingrove of the Globe and Mail tweeted an image of a motionless body inside the lobby of the Centre Block of Parliament. Police have confirmed this was indeed one of the suspects and he is now deceased.

Police have created a cordon around Parliament Hill with a large presence of heavily armed officers throughout the area. Reports indicate that this is still an active situation and police are working on the assumption that there are multiple suspects on the loose in downtown Ottawa. Reports indicate police are going door to door throughout the downtown Ottawa area. Previous reports stated that a suspect was moving on the roofs of buildings above an open-air pedestrian mall.

CBC News reports that shots have been fired near the Rideau Centre, a shopping mall very close to Parliament Hill. Many offices and buildings are now on lock down.

The Canadian military has announced that all its bases across the country have been closed to the public. Today's events come on the heels of a death of a Canadian solider in a city outside Montreal, Quebec. He died as a result of injuries sustained when he and a colleague were struck by a vehicle. Police suspect this soldier was deliberately targeted, the suspect in that incident was killed by police after a car chase.
