Everyone loves stories about the migration of some cute or majestic animal. Their often heroic and perilous journeys over hill and dale, mountains, valleys, and rivers are inspiring. Some of these creatures are seeking food; others seek to fulfill the genetic imperatives of their species.
But consider the plight of the lowly North American Tarsands Pipeline. Often maligned, this creature plays an important role through symbiosis with transnational bank accounts and corporate greed.
In today's feature film, we will examine the plight of this mysterious creature as it makes its way from Athabaska, over 4,000 kilometres and across some of the harshest terrain, to find its home nestled in oil tankers at the Atlantic coast.
Only the hardiest make it. Many will fall along the way - into rivers, and lakes, and cities. According to the film's narrator, some will even be stopped by regular people who claim to care about the planet and their own children.
It is a sad tale, but one that everybody should see.
