Hypnotainment and The Illumine Human

"He wanted to dream a man: he wanted to dream him with minute integrity and insert him into reality.”
                         - Jorge Luis Borges, from “The Circular Ruins”

After the long work day
some folks like to kick it down a notch
chillax on the sofa and watch
the black box Tell-you-Uh-Vision,
adjust the temperature to the perfect comfort zone
just the right thermostatic ecstatic
appliance alliance

so the other night i was flippin’ the channels
like a bunch of home fries on a hot skillet
but there were no spices
then suddenly appears the elegant intelligent Harry Belafonte
talking some real talk with Carlos Santana who dropped the phrase
“illumine human”

and suddenly my mind woke up from the hypnotainment
this little tidbit like a needle in a pixel haystack
doing some acupuncture on my mood sphere
sweeping out the cobwebs from
out-of-touch-with-reality shows,
museless news, and roll the effin’ dice for game-show dollars.

--And now some words from no sponsor--
They say around 520 A.D. Bodhidharma brought the essence
now called Zen to China, that he faced a wall and meditated for 9 years,
good on him but that was before Tell-you-Uh-Vision.

“Illumine Human”
man, that’s like the proverbial comic strip light bulb above the head,
wait, no, it’s like the light bulb glowing inside the head,
the light bulb plugged into the heart-socket
and wired down through the guts, genitals, legs and grounded with the feet
all feeding off the electro-magnetic energy in the sacred soil...

Nikola Tesla stuck a light bulb
into the ground after a thunder&lightning-storm and it lit up,
a not-so-secret clue to free energy
he was thinkin’ outside the electrical box,
and we interrupt this poem to bring you a childhood tale
from writer Ray Bradbury[1]:

“I saw a carnival tent down by Lake Michigan. I knew that down there,
by the lake, in his special tent, was a magician named Mr. Electrico.
Mr. Electrico was a fantastic creator of marvels. He sat in his electric chair every night and was electrocuted in front of all the people, young and old, of Waukegan, Illinois. When the electricity surged through his body he raised a sword and knighted all the kids sitting in the front row below his platform. I had been to see Mr. Electrico the night before.
When he reached me, he pointed his sword at my head and touched my brow. The electricity rushed down the sword, inside my skull, made my hair stand up and sparks fly out of my ears. He then shouted at me, "Live forever!"...

“The next day... He then walked me down by the shore and we sat on a sand dune. He talked about his small philosophies and let me talk about my large ones. At a certain point he finally leaned forward and said, "You know, we've met before."

“I replied, "No, sir, I've never met you before."

“He said, "Yes, you were my best friend in the great war in France in 1918 and you were wounded and died in my arms at the battle of the Ardennes Forrest.

But now, here today, I see his soul shining out of your eyes. Here you are, with a new face, a new name, but the soul shining from your face is the soul of my dear dead friend. Welcome back to the world."...

“Leaving the carnival grounds that day I stood by the carousel and watched the horses go round and round to the music of "Beautiful Ohio." Standing there, the tears poured down my face, for I felt that something strange and wonderful had happened to me because of my encounter with Mr. Electrico.

“I went home and the next day traveled to Arizona with my folks. When we arrived there a few days later I began to write, full-time. I have written every single day of my life since that day 69 years ago...”

--This just in, breaking news light bulb--
it’s about the stories & the pictures,
the words & images that shape our minds and futures
and how the screens are just a wall
upon which stuff gets projected,
how the “illumine human” is made of light
from stars to sun-light glaring off a
neighbor’s window at sunset
before the sparkle of stars and moon
and little glowing screens light up the night-time like fireflies
searching for how to plug-in to the real juice.....
