I’m tired of all the political stump
every day’s a bad hair day with Donald Trump,
it’s a smoke and mirrors surreality tv show
(no offense to prayer smoke and true mirrors)
appealing to a psychology of victor and foe.
Colonel Sanders feeding off the hometown crowd
but his foreign policy to the military-industrial is bowed.
And the real enemies pollute land, air, and water,
treat minorities and aboriginals as if they loiter.
Ten years after Katrina and the impoverished scraping by,
uranium radiation on the Great Plains makes me cry,
oil-tainted water offered to the Navajo aka Diné
who – after EPA/Gold King Mine spill –
can’t water crops because it’s pay-to-play.
The Arctic is essential for Indigenous Peoples to feed,
salmon swimming upstream transcends religious creed
but Shell-Obama on a liquid diet of oil,
one bad move and the pristine waters they will spoil.
Looks aren’t everything but Hillary ain’t pretty,
it’s sure looking ugly so we gotta stay gritty.
