At least 10 reported killed in #UCCShooting shooting, many injured

A shooting at Umpqua Community College in Douglas County, Oregon has reportedly claimed at least 10 lives. Police confirmed that there have been injuries and fatalities, and that the suspected gunman is now dead.

Sgt. Aaron Dunbar from the Roseburg Oregon Police Department said during a live interview with CNN that he could not confirm the number of people killed, either, but that it may be close to 10.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenbaum said at least 13 people were killed, according to Portland's KGW.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin told reporters that police responded to the scene after receiving calls about an active shooter. Police engaged the shooter upon their arrive and the shooter was "neutralized," he said, later confirming that he is now deceased.

However, Hanlin said he could not confirm the number of people killed or injured.

The shooter was described as a 20-year-old male by Oregon Governor Kate Brown.

Eleven people have been transported to hospitals, Douglas County Fire Marshal Ray Shoufler said in an interview on CNN. Two of those died at the hospital.

Rosenbaum, meanwhile, said that 20 people were wounded.

Police say there is no more active threat. Hanlin said police are investigating whether the incident was contained to one classroom.

A tweet at 10:45 a.m. said that there was an active shooter at the college.

Umpqua Community College allows students to carry guns on campus. The State of Oregon allows people with concealed weapon permits to bring concealed guns onto campus as well.

Students were moved off campus by authorities, with bag checks and patdowns occuring before they were allowed to leave.

The shooter was reported to be in custody around 11:30 a.m. local time.

The shooting is believed to have taken place in the college's science building.

Students were reportedly bussed away from the college to the Roseburg fairgrounds.

Umpqua Community College has 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students. It is located about six miles from the town of Roseburg, Oregon.
