The creator of the ad allegedly didn’t expect such a backlash to his post.
A Facebook post that objectifies two lesbians in its pro-oil message is ticking off people on social media, as Buzzfeed first reported.
The image was posted to the page titled “Canada Oil Sands Community," run by a gay man, Robbie Picard, that promotes the oil industry in the province of Alberta.
The premise of the message is, that while Saudi Arabia criminalizes lesbians, Canada finds women who are attracted to other women very appealing, so why not stick to domestic oil?
The image was quickly swarmed with comments from people who objected to the sexualization of the marginalized group.
