Venezuelan opposition protesters on Saturday reportedly attacked and robbed members of Brazil’s Landless Workers' Movement, MST, who were visiting Lara state as part of a solidarity delegation, Resumen Latinoamericano reported.

Armed right-wing protesters reportedly entered a camp belonging to UPSA Los Caquetios, a local peasant council, in the early hours of the morning, attacking members of the Apolonio de Carvalho Internationalist MST Brigade and several Venezuelan peasants.

The opposition attackers then stole equipment, food and a vehicle that were intended to be used to deliver food to local residents in need.

“Security and food sovereignty is a concrete demand and we call on the government to take urgent and forceful measures,” UPSA Los Caquetios said in a statement.

“We stand in solidarity with our comrades of the Landless Workers’ Movement of Brazil.”

UPSA Los Caquetios is one of many peasant councils in Venezuela in support of President Nicolas Maduro and the upcoming National Constituent Assembly. The MST, which is currently waging mass struggle against Brazilian President Michel Temer and his neoliberal reforms, is also in support of the Bolivarian Revolution.
