What You Do Know Can Hurt You .... Printer friendly page Print This

Censorship, of course, is directed at people who speak the truth.

It's true that 'what you don't know can hurt  you'. But what you DO know can hurt just as much. Maybe even more.

In the West, especially in the U.S., it's 'freedom of speech when I like what you say.'

In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's recent criticism of Russia for actions that Russia did not commit are an example of lies being an aspect of censorship. Lies block the truth. Unless someone, apart from Russia, refutes what Trudeau is saying as lies, then it's the lies that are accepted as truth.

"Trudeau listed some positive behaviour he said he'd like to see from Putin." For those who know that Trudeau is a neoliberal, political, corporate and military elite supporter and liar, the sheer arrogance and condescension of this statement is astonishing and reveals how confident Trudeau feels about the lies he tells.

We know that Trudeau does not speak from his own knowledge - since he has none - but instead is told what to say. I don't know when Canadians will figure out that their PM is a shill for the neoliberal neocons - before it's too late, I hope. Trudeau is sent out to communicate with Canadians when the powers that be need to manipulate them into accepting their government's neoliberal policies domestically and globally.

Not communicating with or getting consent from Canadians, policiesare discussed and decided in secrecy, such as with the approval of the the TPP, a deal that hundreds of thousands of Canadians told this PM and his government they didn't want. Canadians also made clear they wanted the negotiations of this deal to be transparent. Trudeau and his neoliberal buddies ignored Canadians' request of transparency and continued their negotiations in secrecy.

Trudeau's betrayal of Canadians pretty well began right out of the starting gate. The progressive policies that he advocated in his campaign were nowhere to be seen when he got elected. His neoliberal policies and imperial foreign policies are much the same as the prior Conservative government. As Trudeau loses credibility it's not off the mark to say the conservatives could win the 2019 election. Why this is possible I explain in a breakdown of how Harper has built the conservative party to last.

See The House that Harper Built: Built to Last.
