How low should Canada bow? Printer friendly page Print This

An article (here) written by Pete Dolack of Systemic Disorder, asks the question "Will the Canadian government allow itself to be bullied?" - by Donald Trump and his demands regarding negotiations to amend the NAFTA agreement.

Let's start with the basics: The Canadian government has always been in agreement with these corporate controlled neoliberal trade deals. If they do give into the bullying by Trump, it will be for something like giving U.S. corporations more control. But the neoliberal corporate trade policies in the current deal - and the deal they will likely swallow - have always been supported by the Canadian government.

The question really is how much control of Canada's wealth has already been given away with the signing of this and other trade deals? Is there anything left to give away? The Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) provision in all of the deals is something that Trudeau in the past has fought for. Any removal of that should be a deal breaker for Canada. If the rumors from Washington are to be believed, the ISDS provisions might survive this process unscathed.

Trump's anti-Canadian rhetoric and bullying over the past few weeks is a blessing in disguise for the Canadian government. They can appear to be standing up to the bullying and fighting for Canadian interests in NAFTA, while nothing could be further than the truth. NAFTA, as with all of the other 'trade' deals, is only in the corporate interest, domestically and globally.

The corporate and economic elite, Trudeau's advisors, would never allow Trudeau to NOT sign NAFTA or any other 'trade' deal for that matter. It is amazing to discover that your government is betraying you and selling your country's wealth and democracy from right underneath your noses.

The MSM is equally to blame. Instead of analyzing and explaining what the NAFTA deal entails, they stay completely SILENT!

The U.S. has always been the major benefactor in these deals, no matter which countries sign them. The goal of the neocons, through domestic and global deregulating, is the ongoing dismantling of sovereign governments and their democratic institutions. They're getting close to achieving this totally, especially in the U.S.

The goal? Having Corporate elites govern domestically and globally. Are not these 'trade' deals a prelude to that corporate control? The deep state has been able to accelerate this neoliberal agenda under Trump.

The U.S. corporate and military elites already control the Canadian government. Trudeau does not take a stand on anything, he does what he is told - my guess is without question. Someone should ask him the question, "Where do you get your ideas from?" The root of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau's ideas could intellectually be traced to philosophy. He was a fully integrated thinker. His son Justin, the current prime minister seems to have NO ideas with intellectual roots. His ideas are simply floating abstractions, intellectually tied to nothing.

When he is told what to think and what to say, Canadians should be very concerned about. Because his lack of independent thought is the source of all of his neoliberal undemocratic policies. What's worse than the Canadian government controlling and betraying the Canadian people? That this government is headed by a Prime Minister, in name only, who like Trump, is nothing more than a corrupt, anti-intellectual!
