The Demons of the Dispossessed
By Cherie Harrich

The Demons of the Dispossessed

the demons of the dispossessed
need no consumptive greed
they shuffle with the masses
who leave all behind in the burning dust
gravely braving the fire ahead

Imagine no Possessions
Imagine being Possessed

the demons of the dispossessed
dance in the dusty lines
they feast on barrenness
while ashes turn to gold
in the hands of our heroes…

Are Prophets Free?

Luxury and Lucre…
Burdens Guarded and Barred,
while the dispossessed
march on with empty arms;
Poverty’s Richness released…

Enlightenment bares the soul
while war bars the heart.
The heaviest of burdens
are always, always
borne by the dispossessed.

the demons of the dispossessed
feed on adrenalin terrors
drink the delirium of war
beat the skin drawn tight over the leaking grail
while Mars incinerates the asylum…
