"A HERON IS NOT A STONE", a poem
By George Wallace

A HERON IS NOT A STONE
the only monument to dissent shall be freedom

a heron is not a cobblestone
a fish is not a falcon
water does not fall
until sea mist has risen
a tree cannot grow
until snowclouds gather
nor freedom live
until the forest is shaken
i am here
standing in the aspens
look in the mirror
here i am
love is not
the only motivation
