“While some people pretend to kill other by famine, I guarantee you that as long as Hugo Chávez is the President of Venezuela, as long as the revolution remains, the Venezuelan people will feed better and will live better; even if the Venezuelan bourgeoisie regrets it,” the Venezuelan president said during his weekly program Aló, Presidente, held from Apure State.
He showed figures and results regarding the increase of food consumption of Venezuelans and the drop of extreme poverty as a consequence of the policies applied by the Bolivarian government aimed at improving the quality of life of Venezuelan people.
The decrease experienced in the food consumption and the increase of the extreme poverty generated by the April 2000 coup d’État and promoted by the US empire and the Venezuelan bourgeoisie in 1998, were caused “by the pro-opposition sector who intended to overthrow Hugo Chávez. Now, they pretend to rule Venezuela one more time. They will never come back!” he shouted.
According to the Agriculture and Land Minister, Elias Jauas, one of the main slaughterhouses is under the management of the Venezuelan State since 11 months ago; and the production reaches 40 animals slaughtered per day.
Thanks to the agreements signed with Argentinean companies, the slaughterhouse is in the second recovery phase which is aimed at increasing its slaughtering capacity, that is to say, 80 animals per day. These products are mainly distributed in food markets and Mercal (state-run supermarkets), he said.
In 2007, the production was up to 6,736 animals, which represents 0. 31 per cent of the total; and 7.16 per cent of the Barinas’ state production. This slaughterhouse counts on three refrigerators, three trucks, a van, among others.
This plan is aimed at defeating capitalism, since this system causes shortages and speculation. “I urge the Venezuelan people to practice a sort of exorcism about this issue. From these llanos, I urge people to continue boosting the Bolivarian socialism.”
