Fighting Terrorism

I have a suggestion for Mr George W. Bush of a great cleansing action which could give his last months in office a sparkle and shine which his two terms have so notoriously lacked by definitively ending one of the world's most imposing terrorist organisations, if not the most powerful.

He should put aside his blind filial piety (as part of which the idea of revenge helped to lead him into Iraq) and put an end to the gang which his "dear old daddy" once ruled, the Central Intelligence Agency, and initiate an in-depth enquiry into this anti-democratic organisation and its links with such other dubious bodies as the Carlyle Group.   Such an enquiry would blow apart the establishment's present tyrannical hold on the people by such means as the Patriot Acts, which should, of course, be repealed.

The world has suffered so much from the CIA ("the gang"), and also from the local subsidiary gangs which it has either founded, such as the Taliban in Afghanistan and General Pinochet's régime in Chile, or backed, that we would be greatly relieved if it were to come to a sudden and definitive end.

Any enquiry could well start with questions as to the forces to whom the members of the gang have any loyalty.   To us here in Europe they seem to have only one unquestioning loyalty which is to the (apparently "shy and retiring") corporate bosses who exercise over the USA and its citizens a greedy control which they are ceaselessly trying to extend to the rest of the world.

From what we see of their actions, these gang members seem to have no interest in protecting humanity or in the well-being of their own fellow-citizens, since they appear to have been inducted to destroy any signs of freedom or democracy on the part of the masses.

The gang does not seem to be governed by any constitutional rules, and apparently feels free to act without any legal authority anywhere in the world.   For example, its actions in American states outside the USA and in the Near and Middle East pose constant threats from which we need to protect ourselves.

Of course, I do not really expect Mr George W. Bush to do any such thing, since he remains a puppet of those who benefit financially from the gang's worst excesses, and also he is, for reasons which can astonish us, devoutly tied to his father's most questionable past.   If my father had behaved as did Mr George H.W. Bush, my first tendency would have been to hide any connection with him, and even perhaps to change my surname - happily I have no need to feel such shame.

Furthermore, I cannot see either of the principal candidates in November's presidential election doing anything to fight genuine terrorism, since they both seem wedded to maintaining repression wherever it suits their masters and the latters' financial profits or other aims.

Neither of these candidates shows any sign of wishing to effect any radical change in White House international policy, and each of them makes us fear more of the same.   This seems almost certain to include continued sabotage of our freedoms and our future by political and commercial interference in our internal affairs through this gang and its subsidiaries.

Mr Bush's "War on Terror" is a ghastly joke in extremely bad taste, and my proposal that he should start by putting an end to his own terrorist network is my very simple and serious reply whereby I challenge him to take a first step towards ending terrorism in the world.
