U.S. actor and film director, Academy Award winner for Mystic River (2003), visited Venezuela's old capital city, Coro, located in Falcon state, to look for locations for his new project. He highlighted his support of La Villa del Cine, Venezuelan film studios, to the development of filmmaking.

On June 6, famous U.S. actor, writer, and filmmaker Tim Robbins, visited the facilities of La Villa del Cine as he was looking for locations to develop a possible project in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Robbins was welcomed and accompanied by the President of La Villa del Cine, Lorena Almarza, and some Venezuelan filmmakers such as Chalbaud, Carlos Caridad Montero and Alfredo Hueck.

During the visit, Robbins was impressed by the investment made by the Bolivarian Government in filmmaking and praised the support provided by La Villa del Cine to new young directors and productions by famous and experienced Venezuelan directors.

Likewise, he extolled the variety of issues and visions he witnessed in the film trailers he watched, and the number of films (18), which have been made in just two years.

The U.S. actor seized on his stay in Venezuela to visit some places, including Venezuelan old capital city, Coro, Falcon state, because he’s looking for locations for his projects

Robbins won the supporting actor Oscar in 2003 for Mystic River, a film directed by Clint Eastwood, and he starred in the The Secret Life of Words, directed by Isabel Coixet and winner of the 20th edition of the Goyas as Best Movie.

The strong ideals of this academy-award winner are in opposition to  the U.S. foreign policy imposed by the Bush administration. He has also actively participated in different events, together with his wife, Susan Sarandon, to reject Bush’s actions. Susan Sarandon is also a famous actor in her own right.

Tim Robbins joins Danny Glover, Sean Penn and Kevin Spacey as the fourth U.S. famous actor to visit the facilities of La Villa del Cine in order to learn more, first hand, about Venezuelan filmmaking which is supported by the State and committed to the Venezuelan people’s cultural values.
