A Goddamn Piece of Paper

A conversation between a US patriot and a spokesman for the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie under Bush often goes something like this.

As our starting point, let's say the USA is or was the US people under the Constitution, a document of rules which, among other things, promises:

"Nor shall any person ... be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law," the 5th Amendment of the Constitution reads.

"Why ah ... why ah, listen here!  This fellow ain't no 'person' as the document says; he's the accused," the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie under Bush argues. "But we magnanimously gave him due process anyway, before we deprived him of his property when we threw him in jail. Ain't jail enough due process?" the bourgeois dictatorship mocks.

"OK, you didn't give him due process before you deprived him of his property, did you give him due process before you threw him in jail or deprived him of his liberty?"  the US patriot ... who believes the USA is the US people under the Constitution ... asks the bourgeois dictatorship.

"Wait a minute ... now, you just wait a minute, right there. Whether by fraud or democracy, George W. Bush is the president of the USA and Bush says 'US Constitution is nothing but Goddamn piece of paper'," the bourgeois dictatorship correctly points out.

"Ok, you didn't give him due process before you deprived him of his property or liberty, did you give him due process before you deprived him of his life?" the patriot asks.

"Bush says we can torture and sometimes the lights in the accused go out ... you know, he blacks out during torture," the dictatorship admits.

Driving home its disagreement with our starting point, the bourgeois dictatorship under Bush argues "I sure don't believe that the USA is the US people under a Goddamn piece of paper. I believe or, rather, I know the USA is the US people under a Goddamn president. So, if you Goddamn the Constitution, you don't Goddamn the USA."

"Is this president by fraud or democracy above, below, or even with the Constitution?" the patriot ... who respects the US people and Constitution ... asks.

"Let me put it this way. Bush doesn't have to do what the Constitution says unless he wants to," the  bourgeois dictatorship explains.

"Does he want to," the patriot asks.

"Not often."

"Is McCain the same as Bush?

"No"

"Why"

"McCain is worse."

"Why"

"Bush is just stupid, but McCain is nuts."

"I didn't know that."

"Then you haven't read his medical history."
