The Decline and Fall of Empires

When Edward Gibbon, shortly before the French Revolution, wrote his "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire", he was well aware that that empire, like so many others before and since, fell not as a result of external forces, but due to inner corruption, as it sank into self-indulgence and the lack of any common form of morality and inner discipline.

Today we see a hideous empire which is trying to control the world through the military power of the USA and Zionism, which, for the sake of simplicity, I will hereinafter refer to as the 'Dollar empire', created at the behest and on behalf of the real rulers who are greedy corporate bosses wishing to extend their rule to control, and profit from, the natural resources wherever they are found on our planet.

As in Sodom and Gomorrah which are a symbol of the rottenness of these rulers, there are many ways of sapping the strength of the plebs or ordinary people of any nation, and in the USA the Dollar empire has had some success with the provision of endless moronic entertainment and the cult of celebrity as did the rulers of ancient Rome, but where that has failed, as in the Near and Middle East, it is always ready to use crude brute force to try to keep the people in a state of subordination.

As happened in some parts of the ancient Roman empire, we can see that the collapse is likely to be bloody, due to the desire for revenge of populations which have been subjugated most brutally, and we can hope that from the ashes of the Dollar empire will rise a better and more humane form of society.   The danger however is always that one form of oppression may well give way to another as happened in the old Russian empire, where the tyranny of the Czars gave way to the matching tyranny of the Soviet rulers.

These evil empires succeed by 'dumbing down' the plebs and dangling before them as models of success a series of celebrities, in the expectation that the more corrupt and useless they are the more the plebs will take no interest in ruling itself.   This was most clearly set out by the late Douglas Adams in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe", and it is sad that he should have died so young.

The genuine interests of all peoples around the world can only be met when they are not only encouraged to take an interest in governance but also given the power to govern themselves.   This is why, for example, the Dollar empire in the form of the Bush régime is frightened of the rise of such men as Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales.   These two American leaders actually believe in giving the plebs a say in their own government, a concept which could light a bush-fire (an unintended pun) across their continent, and destroy unbridled capitalism.

They are also scared of the resistance forces in the Near and Middle East which could end corrupt and compliant régimes, used as buffers states by the Dollar empire in such countries as Saudi Arabia and the whole of the area, including occupied Palestine, from where this empire currently threatens the peace of the whole planet.   Those who can see what is happening in our world will not be looking at any future arms which may be held by Iran as a potential threat to international peace and stability, but rather at the existing threat of arms already produced and still being manufactured at such sites as Dimona.

The disgusting over-consumption of anything and everything by these tyrants, and by those whom they seduce into supporting them by means of over-indulgence and false ideas of celebrity and fame, must shock all decent folk, who can see in this the danger of reaction and resistance on the part of the oppressed.   Clearly, we cannot see whether this will come first from the ordinary citizens of the USA or from the persecuted people of other areas, such as the Near and Middle East, but we should do all that we can to persuade the present imperial rulers to surrender their ill-gotten power and stolen lands and homes to avoid the risk of a widespread bloodbath.

We can see the terrible mistakes which can arise from clumsy attempts to hold on to some form of imperial control, as we still suffer from the failure of the then British government to realise Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's dream of a secular India to take over the whole of the former territories of the Raj.   The results of this disastrous policy are still with us and have given rise to increased religious intolerance in the sub-continent (spilling over elsewhere), as well as to the continuing quarrel over Jammu and Kashmir.

We should encourage all tyrannous empires, starting with the Dollar empire, to collapse if only to allow peoples to be themselves, and we must also have more trust in the plebs who should be encouraged to take charge of their own lives by using such power as they have to overcome all forms of oppression and persecution.   Humanity has survived the collapse of empires in the past to its great advantage, and, despite nuclear weapons, should be able so to do again, but the corrupting effect of the present closely inter-knit Dollar empire is so great that it requires effort on the part of all decent people around our planet, and of all races and creeds, to overcome this constant danger to our future.
