In a handout picture released on the news website of Iran's ...
Photo of an Iranian Shahab-3 missile released on the news website of Iran's Revolutionary Guard. It was fired at an undisclosed location in the Iranian desert on July 9. Iran reportedly fired more weaponry since in response to the belligerant threats of an unprovoked attack by the US and Israel.
Let's begin with some logical questions and REFLECT SERIOUSLY about what is brewing in the Middle East as well as possible future consequences.

  • Why should Iran suspend its nuclear energy program since it has to prepare for twenty years hence when its oil will run out? This implies stopping its uranium enrichment activities vital for nuclear reactors to operate.

  • Why is Israel permitted to have around 150 nuclear weapons (according to ex President Carter) and a military-purpose, nuclear reactor at Dimona plus missile delivery systems, when President Bush has demanded that Iran also suspend its missile program calling it a "threat to Middle Eastern stability" and a "provocation"?

  • Why should Great Britain have Trident nuclear submarines which could destroy most of humanity and the US thousands of multiple nuclear warheads, plus submarines, plus ICBM's, plus tactical battlefield nuclear weapons? The same goes for Russia.

  • What right does Israel have to continue to threaten to attack Iran in order to prevent the development of nuclear weapons, the existence of which the government in Tehran has always denied?

  • Was not the recent Israeli exercise over the Mediterranean with fighter bombers not a provocation to Iran?

Provocation by Israel as it threatens Iran, launching one of its ICBMs - the "Arrow". Provocation from the US Fleet, cruising the Iranian coast since May, 2007.

In this case it is hardly a surprise that Tehran has decided to draw a line in the dirt and show part of its military hardware by launching several missiles capable of striking most parts of the Middle East. The message is clearly that it will not stand by and be threatened by the US surrogate power in the region.

The saber rattling on both sides is not the main concern. The main concern is the Israeli mind set which justifies the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza using helicopter gunships and tanks against unarmed, innocent civilians. Any regime which can justify this criminal action, anywhere, is also capable of attacking another country in the name of "national security" and if retaliation is encountered, using nuclear weapons to "quell the threat".

Zionism is no different from the "Lebensraumpolitik" of Nazi Germany. Whether or not the Jews are the "chosen people" and in the scriptures have a God given right to take land and ethnically cleanse it for their own settlers, the phrase "chosen people" could well be justified in another context – that is "chosen" to generate the spark of Armageddon in the Middle East.

The US as Israel's main ally is standing idly by as tension builds, issuing statements which are simply fanning the flames of conflict. Only the US can rein in the Israeli pretensions to launch an unprovoked attack on Iran but does not have a mind to do so. The Zionists laundering these threats literally have their "finger on the button" and we could be on the verge of nuclear weapons being used for the first time since Nagasaki in August 1945.

The corporate press which in its servile blindness supports Israel and continues to demonize Iran, as they did Iraq before the 2003 invasion, is also instrumental in the build-up of tension. The corporate media is failing in its responsibility to humanity to help avert what could be the final conflict in the Middle East. Don't these people realize that world stock markets would collapse in the event of Israeli aggression, the oil price would explode to over US$200 a barrel overnight, the world economy would enter into the new dark ages and they, together with their families would not escape the fallout (in every sense of the word). These arrogant professionals feel immune sitting in their air conditioned offices in London and New York and are frankly a disgrace to the concept of truth, journalistic ethics and balanced reporting.

The corporate press, instead of being the media whores that they are at the service of capitalism and the Global Corporate Empire, should be pointing to the psychopathic Israeli mind set which has already eclipsed on total madness.

When considering an arbitrary attack on a well developed country with more than 70 million inhabitants, the ripples would cause Russia to become involved as Iran's northern neighbor. Russia is the regional nuclear power which also has "lots of nukes" – possibly more than the US.

Negotiations are the only way forward but the space available has become even narrower in the last 48 hours. The US will be one step removed if Israel does launch an attack and will claim its "innocence" and probably express feigned displeasure. In reality, the US is to blame for arming Israel to the teeth, sending billions of dollars every year to maintain the military threat in the region at its highest level, and for providing Israel with nuclear technology.

The clock is ticking and we are now at the stage where even a misunderstanding or misinterpreted order could light the fuse of the greatest conflagration for mankind since the end of the War in the Pacific in 1945.

Only the people can stop the war on Iran. See how you can do your part to end this pending disaster. Go to the streets alone or with whatever friends, anti-war group or organization exists in your country. Join with the millions who are opposed to this war and do everything possible before it's too late.
