Open letter to Vice-President-elect Biden

Dear Mr Biden,

Being myself an elderly retired lawyer, your public declarations puzzle me, since they do not match what you advertise on your web-site.   Reading your publicity material, I get the impression that you are a decent honest man, but your declarations show you to be a supporter of some of the most horrible persecutions in the world.

It would be useful for many of us in the wider world if you could explain this dichotomy.   If you are indeed a Zionist, you are actively supporting cruelty, killing, theft and ethnic cleansing in what is to those of us who are Jewish, Christian or Muslim the Holy Land on a scale similar to that committed by the Nazis in Europe before and during the Second World War.   Please explain why.   If you are a decent man, you should, like me, condemn all persecution wherever it happens and whoever might commit the crimes.

You seem to feel it possible for a decent person to support evil, if that evil is done by persons for whom you have some form of sympathy, as I assume is the case when you look at the Zionists who have invaded and taken over the Holy Land, without thinking very hard about what they are actually doing to the innocent Palestinian people.

What is for you the interest of the United States in supporting this repressive régime?   It is half a world away from your own country, and the Zionists deserve to follow the Nazis into everlasting oblivion, and their evil deeds overturned with the help of the whole international community.

You take a great interest in countries such as Iran and Syria, but you also seem to have little practical knowledge of either of these countries.   My only visit to Iran was to spend a night on the airport at Tehran, when the aircraft on which I was travelling from Cairo to New Delhi had technical difficulties, but I have been several times to Syria, a most civilised country, where I have been welcomed most warmly by people of all sorts.   You must also remember that part of Syria is under vicious enemy occupation.

Although you feel able to praise the oppressive Zionists, you have made ridiculously silly remarks about Hezbollah and Hamas, two organisations whose principal aims have been to free their respective countries, the Lebanon and Palestine, from unjustified Zionist attacks.   If any other country invaded and occupied your beloved Delaware, I have to assume that you would immediately collaborate with the invaders, rather than resist as so many brave men and women did in occupied European lands, including France, during the Second World War.   If you had been born a Palestinian, into either a Muslim or a Christian family, you would now be (at best) a second-class citizen, being pushed at all times to abandon your home and lands to be occupied by incoming Zionists.   Had you ever thought of that?   I suspect not, since you have gone so far as to declare yourself to be a Zionist.

I hope that you will reflect on this and decide to end all links between yourself and the Zionists, and you can then have a clear conscience about the Holy Land, and about the future of the world.

Yours sincerely,

Robert Thompson
