After reading the letter from Ernst Zundel's wife, I wanted to receive your newsletter. My father sent the other one to me and I was deeply impressed. I appreciate your time.
Thank you,

To the Editor,
I am writing to thank you for your support of Ernst Zundel. While I am ambivalent about Mr. Zundel's personal opinions, what alarms me as an American is that he is obviously being punished merely for maintaining them.
Whatever happened to freedom of speech and thought in this country? Why is it that we have millions of illegal immigrants running around while the government could care less, and yet this man is incarcerated for a "thought crime?" Is this a portent of things to come? I am beginning to think so.
Sincerely, Miss Ross

We wish to thank you for your courage and fairness in publishing the Zundel story. It is a breath of fresh air to read information that usually doesn't see the light of day...and applaud your 'mission' toward truth and fairness on the web. We have added you to our "favorite" list.....happy to put you on board.
Keep up the good work!!

Dear Axis of Logic:
"Well, I have to say that Axis never deviates from the facts. Your editors dig into and research their subjects, which is admirable. Most Americans just believe what they hear on American television and think that's the end of it. You can read most of the world's newspapers on the internet, but few people do.
I guess I'm unwilling to accept a lot of the propaganda about taking freedom to the rest of the world when it is being curtailed here at home in the name of "safety." America was once the most free countrys in the world, but we are quickly becoming a police state. It is not the government, but the citizens, who are to blame. We have become lazy; we have grown idolatrous to the past; we expect the government to take care of us, when in truth, its is we who must take care of the government. And right now that means telling them to stand down and not tread on us (the people)".
Thank you,

Dear Axis of Logic,

Dear Axis:
SUV tax break - Ask Your Tax Accountant
Do you know that you and I are bankrolling about $900,000,000 every year to pay for fat cat’s SUVs? Umhmmm: Landrovers for $72K with the worst gas mileage on the planet and Cadillac Escalades…Hummers. Yep, you, regular Volkswagon-driving, tax-paying dudes. First I’ll explain how it works, and then I want you to write your congressman and senator and get this loophole sealed shut. Deal? And spread the word.
A long time ago, a tax credit was set up with the aim of helping farmers accelerate the depreciation on their pick-up trucks. That’s cool. But this was back when a pick-up truck was actually used for something and was not equipped with air-conditioning., leather seats, or entertainment centres. Heck, we threw stuff in the back and rolled down the windows, staying off the highway as much as possible.
Seems that today’s SUVs are classified as trucks even though we all know that they are just a bloated commuter vehicles. And so long as you are a business owner and buy one that weighs at least 6000 pounds, you are entitled to an immediate write off of as much as $24,000. Are you listening to me? Add to that a bonus deduction of 30% of the rest of the cost until 2004. This is all on top of the regular 5-year depreciation schedule. And that’s current law. Under the new tax code, the write off has been cranked up to $100,000. Ant luxury tax that you an I would pay? Nope, doesn’t apply.
You think I’m kidding don’t’cha?
But it’s true: if you are a business owner, you could easily deduct more than $30,000 this year for a vehicle for which you "paid" $40,000. Uh…the rest of us tax payers make up the difference. The raw facts are that the deduction for driving a dangerous (to all the rest of us) gas-hog is significantly higher than the tax credit allowed for hybrid vehicles -a mere 2-grand.
Stand up for the planet: fight back.

Dear Axis of Logic,
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the hard work you obviously put into this. Nowhere do I find so much buried news.
Thank you,

- "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of it's laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children...This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Solomon Letter
What an honor to have been commended by Norman Solomon! Thank you for your hard work in making available to the public news that SHOULD be on front pages but that is hidden and obscured by the mainstream media.
I heard somebody say the other day that the Democrats had no candidates to go against Bush in 2004. I mentioned the names of several including Dean and Kucinich. The person did not recognize either and knew little of the others, except for Lieberman. The obvious answer is that Democratic candidates are not receiving media play. That is somewhat paralleled by Bill Clinton's first speech as president when the Networks refused to carry it and he was reduced to coverage by C-Span.
Perhaps in the run up to the elections (we hope that there will be elections!) the Axis can serve to provide information on all the candidates.
Thanks again for the hard work you are doing.

From Caley
Dear Axis of Logic:
Please focus articles on what we do want not what we are against. We want 'right sharing of world resources' at least that is what I want. What about you? The imperialism is a lousy emotion-rousing word. So is socialist, communist.... so what is it we want. being anti-war, anti imperialism( sure understand the feeling I feel the same way but the answer to my problems does not lie in being anti anything). Please have articles talk in positive terms what is wanted and what we are doing to make those positive actions happen and work.
I want right sharing of world resources, I want fair pay for good work. I REALLY WANT HEALTH INSURANCE TO BE ABOUT MEDICAL, PHYSICIAL AND EVEN MENTAL HEALTH RATHER THAN ABOUT FINANCIAL HEALTH. I just got paid 204 dollars on a $2400 bill by an'insurance' company only all the correspondence says, xxx financical group. So they are only about financial health of the already rich-- people who have enough to invest. They are stingy with those peoples money.
Thanks
Caley
The power of love will change the world.
Dear Caley,
I agree that we need to have a strong focus on new directions for the country and the world. All of the things you want for both are consistent with our goals. On the one hand, I believe we must attack the fortresses of greed and injustice and war. But I also agree with you - that we as a grass-roots movement need to focus on new positive directions for the country and the world.
One of the ways we have tried to deal with all the negative news and information we are receiving and publishing has been to include quotes, art and poetry to help support and expand readers' world views - i.e. to help place some of this negative information into a broader perspective.
One problem is the dearth of good writing that focuses on "the positive". I would like to write more about new directions - and plan to do so when I can find the time! If you are so-inclined, we heartily invite you to help us research news and information sources for articles you think should be shared with our readers. In the meantime, I will use your excellent recommendation to do my best to focus on new, positive directions in articles we publish in Axis.
Thanks so much for writing - and thinking!
