In his highly disingenuous screed "The Coming Pax Americana," former Mossad chief and propaganda-meister Efraim Halevy makes the case for the US, as a proxy of Israel, of course, to invade not only Iran, but also Syria and Saudi Arabia, once again under the guise of "bringing democracy" to the Middle East.
Even Halevy's title is a lie. It should be called "Bella Americana," not "The Coming Pax Americana."
The former head of Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency whose motto is "By way of deception, thou shalt do war," has crafted a superb piece of strategic propaganda aimed at US policymakers.
In Haaretz, Halevy writes --"In a visit to the United States two weeks ago, I was told by several well-informed observers that should one of the more severe scenarios come to pass, the United States will have no choice but to deepen its presence in the Middle East.

Halevy also arrogantly assures American mothers and fathers that their sons and daughters will have to die for Israel -- even if they are not dual citizens.
"To that end, it [the United States] will have to renew the draft, to ensure that there are enough forces to deal with developing situations in countries like Saudi Arabia," Halevy writes.
"There is a good possibility that Iraq will not be the last country in the region that will require a lengthy American military presence," Halevy continues.
And here's what the old spymaster also has in mind -- US soldiers killing Palestinians on Israel's behalf.
"The U.S. campaign in Iraq was perceived as a signal of long-term American commitment to do whatever is required and to stay in the 'neighborhood' for as long as needed," writes Halevy. "It was none other than Martin Indyk, the former U.S. ambassador to Israel, who not long ago raised the idea of establishing an American trusteeship regime in the areas of the Palestinian Authority, if it should turn out that the Palestinians are not ripe for self-rule. That arrangement would require an American operational military presence along Israel's border with the Palestinian territories."
Halevy also likes the idea of more Americans dying for Israel -- for at least ten more years. "The shapers of the basic political approach of the Bush administration say that the United States plans 'to be in the area' for as long as 10 years and more, if needed," he writes
After all, "Bill Kristol, one of the most influential 'neocons' (neoconservatives) in the United States, noted in this connection that the American presence in Europe after World War II lasted for nearly 60 years."
In other words, Halevy is actually calling for a US occupation of the entire Middle East, once again as a proxy of Israel.
Halevy also continues to promote the "legend" (spy talk for convincing lies told to the public) that Iran is a "threat," repeating the neocon lies ad absurdum.
"From many points of view, this is the most fascinating and significant experiment taking place today, as it is obvious that Iran is trying to extricate itself from this international pressure and is using various modes of deception to conceal the truth and trick those that are negotiating with it over its nuclear program," Halevy writes.
Like the phony "WMDs in Iraq" story, Halevy knows that false reports about Iran's so-called "nuclear capabilities" will continue to be published. His sayanim in US media, like the New York Times and Washington Post, will make sure of that.
