It is a vital necessity to unite the Iraqi resistance

As a result of the contacts between the diverse elements of the Iraqi resistance, carried out in the last few days, a unified command and a political committee of the resistance has been created.

The command is formed by 25 political personalities that represent the Baath party, the Patriotic Iraqi Alliance, the General Command of the armed forces, the Communists with patriotic tendencies and against the occupation, the Association of Moslem Ulemas, the Shi'ite religious dignitary Aiat Allah Ahmed Asan Al Baghdadi, the nationalistic Arab and Naserist current, the Islamic Army, the Army of the Rachidines (an allusion to the first four Moslem caliphs), the Regiments of the 1920  Revolution, as well as the following political personalities: Kaïs Mohamed Nouri, Khedir Wahid Al Murchid, Ouni Al Kalanji, Ahmed Karim, Youssef Hamdane, Abderrazak Sâadi, Abdel Kerim Hani, Arched Zibari, Boutheina Nasseri (a woman), and Abdel Jebbar Kubeisi, as well as representatives of the Association of Moslem Ulemas.

According to Iraqi well informed sources, the centre for these contacts was Izzet Ibrahim, former Vice-president of the Iraqi Republic.

The reports of the formation of the political committee has produced the following reaction from the Basora Network (Chabakat Al Basrah), close to the Baath party:

"After the publication of the reports regarding the birth of a political unified command of the resistance in Iraq by ALQUDS ALARABI 27/10/06 and later reproduced by numerous web sites, whether it is truth  or not, and because of the debate that it is likely to produce between those who are friendly and hostile to the cause, it is proper to release the following comments:

"The creation of a political command, that will bring together all the elements of the resistance, is an vital need for any movement of national liberation in any historical moment. This is a need that has become very urgent in Iraq, bearing in mind the catastrophic situation lived by the people day by day in Iraqi, with the endless massacres perpetrated by both the forces of occupation and the death squads and the painful wait for the departure of the invaders that will bring the country out of the uncertainty in which it has been thrown. We are a people that has been torn to pieces, our identity defaced, our national territory sliced into pieces, our women raped, our elders murdered, our children terrified at night, the whole society  losing its points of reference, which may make it fall victim of drugs, hunger and neglect. There are many mosques being destroyed and the Koran trampled all too often. Is there a bigger humiliation for a people? All this makes it necessary for us to overcome all futile considerations and call to the heroes of the resistance: Save us and you will have our support!"

This statement was released after the Baath party presented its political program which was made public by Aljazeera, the Arab newspapers and the resistance websites.

In turn, all this was preceded by the revelation of the name of the resistance and  iberation's spokesman.

The names of the people, members of the political command are not familiar but we are not surprised to see them. We would have expected to hear other names, as they have our confidence which is well deserved by their militancy in the past.

We wonder if there exist in the world and the country the conditions capable of sustaining such a group.

This political command has brought together all  the elements of the military and political resistance, which as we said is an absolute necessity.

I reiterate my desire that everyone will contribute to the victory of the resistance and of Iraq, which means the beginning of the victory of our nation and I beseech Allah to make it possible.
