The Bolivarian government, through Mission Food, set on Saturday an openwide mega market in eight states of Venezuela, where 4,479 tons of food were sold. The information was issued by the Food Minister, Félix Osorio, from the openwide market installed in the Casa del Obrero located in Libertador Municipality, Caracas.
He explained that the 24 operatives and 239 mobile small markets were spread in Caracas and the states of Apure, Barinas, Cojedes, Delta Amacuro, Miranda, Monagas and Zulia, in order to guarantee the fair distribution of food in the Venezuelan population.
The Minister stated that the state-run market (Mercados de Alimentos, MERCAL) holds a reserve of milk for nine months aimed at guaranteeing the consumption of this product this year.
Likewise, he pointed out that up to now they have installed 30 small communal markets and they expect to continue increasing this figure up to 60 this year. The final goal is to install 2,000 small markets by the end of the year.
