The Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister, Nicolás Maduro, informed on Sunday that many countries that participated in the Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers of South American and Arab Countries (ASPA Spanish acronym) have supported Venezuela in the legal conflict undertaken by ExxonMobil.
Minister Maduro pointed out that the support of these countries was expressed in the different bilateral encounters and in the ASPA’s debate sessions held on Wednesday.
The Venezuelan minister stated “we are going to win this battle with the support, solidarity and understanding of the people who are aware that multinational companies have always intended to take possession of the main resources of our countries, in this case, petroleum.”
Before this supportive attitude, the Bolivarian Government is working in order to add a paragraph to the Final Statement of the Foreign Affairs Meeting, which expresses the support to Venezuela before the ExxonMobil aggressions.
Mr. Maduro participated in the first day of ASPA’s meeting that will be extended up to Thursday.
Among the issues discussed during the first day, we can mention: the presence of US troops in Iraq, the situation of the Palestinian people and the respect of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
