Ahmadinejad said it is true that Iran has a lot of enemies but it does not think of having nuclear bombs because it is completely against the Islamic Republic’s “principles”.
“It is right that the Iranian nation has many enemies but it does not need a nuclear bomb to defend itself,” Ahmadinejad told Danish media outlets in an interview published Wednesday.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran''s principles are against making a nuclear bomb and this is why we call for a global nuclear disarmament,” he noted, according to the Digital Journal.
“Nuclear bombs and weapons of mass destruction are threats to humanity.”
In an indirect reference to the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Iranian president also said the United States must remain within its borders.
The criticism came as the Obama administration has decided to send an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan.
The U.S. has “certain geographical borders and should keep to its borders” like any other country, the president explained.
