IRI nuclear professor assassinated

Iranian nuclear scientist Massoud Ali Mohammadi was killed Tuesday in a rare bomb attack in Tehran.
Masoud Ali-Mohammadi, a prominent Iranian professor in nuclear physics, was assassinated Tuesday morning as he left his home in Qeytariyeh north of Tehran.

He was killed in a blast after a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded when he was going to open the door of his car.

The blast which occurred at around 8 a.m. was remote controlled.

Police and intelligence authorities were at the scene of the blast and investigations have been launched into the case.

The nuclear scientist which used to lecture in Tehran University had contributed scores of articles on nuclear physics in domestic and international circles before the assassination.

Security officials point fingers at Israeli and US spy agencies.
