In October of 2009, a delegation of human rights observers organized by Casa Morazan from Chicago visited Honduras to witness the popular resistance to the coup d'etat. It was comprised of delegates from various local organizations such as the 8th Day Center for Justice, Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America, La Voz de Los de Abajo (the Voice of Those Below), South Side Together Organizing for Power, Teachers for Social Justice and independent journalists from groups such as ChicagOtra and Radios Populares.
We interviewed many leaders of the movement, and recorded abuses against them perpetrated by the de-facto government and their military apparatus. The video is a short summary of the spirit of the resistance to the historical moment: presumably the last week of a military coup d'etat. Expect to see a trailer for our feature-length treatment of this subject coming out in the near future.
