Iara Lee, a dual U.S.-Brazilian citizen works with Cultures of Resistance. She was on the Mavi Marmara, one of the ships in the Freedom Flotilla bringing aid to Gaza when it was attacked on 31 May 2010 by Israeli commandos. In this UN News conference on 10 June, she tells how the Israelis attacked Mavi Marmara in the dark of the night in international waters, killing 9 peace activists, injuring many others, kidnapping hundreds, stealing their possessions and equipment, taking them to an Israeli jail for interrogation before releasing them and the bodies of those whom they killed. - LMB
The ship was carrying aid to Gaza blockaded for over 3 years by some 700 peace activists from 32 countries. Israel targeted and killed 9 Turks and injured dozens. (sound improves after 4 minutes)
