The Right Wing Move to Impeach Paraguay's President Lugo: "A copy of what the Honduran coup instigators put into effect to bring down Zelaya."

Río de Janeiro, June 21 (Prensa Latina) Foreign ministres from member countries of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) are scheduled to leave today for Paraguay to discuss the situation in that country in the wake of decisión by the Chamber of Deputies to open an impeachment against President Fernando Lugo.

At the end of an urgent meeting called in this Brazilian city by UNASUR Secretary General, Venezuelan Ali Rodríguez Araque, the UNASUR presidents decided to send that mission immediately.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota explained that he will be part of the group that is scheduled to leave for Paraguay at night.

The presidents and Foreign ministers were attending the UN Conference on Sustainable Development Rio+20 in this city when the urgent meeting was called.

Political tension intensified today in Paraguay, in the wake of the Chamber of Deputies surprise decision to impeach President Lugo, made during a session that had been called to discuss other issues.

A commission of legislators presented hastily the resolution to the Chamber of Deputies, which is scheduled to discuss it today, with approval almost certain because the governmentâÖs supporters are in minority in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Lugo appointed his legal consultant Emilio Camacho as chief of the group of experts that will defend him during the trial, scheduled to begin tomorrow.

He said he would not step down and above all demands a fair trial.
