Reports early this morning confirm that Ecuador has granted political asylum to Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks.
As it seems unlikely that he will want to live forever in the Ecuadoran embassy in London, there remains the logistical problem of getting him the hell out of there. Plus, there is also the very real threat that Britain will decide that - just this one time, mind you - the Ecuadoran embassy is not Ecuadoran territory and proceed to bash down the doors.
It has to be presumed that Britain and Sweden, where Assange is wanted for questioning, will do whatever their US masters direct. It is naïve in the extreme to believe that the US has any desire to let this man live.
