U.S. soldier holds his sniper position on a rooftop in a Shiite enclave of Sadr City in Baghdad, Iraq. Army snipers hunting insurgents in Iraq were under orders to "bait" their targets with suspicious materials, such as detonation cords, and then kill whoever picked up the items, according to the defense attorney for a soldier accused of planting evidence on an Iraqi he killed. Throughout their long bloody history in both World Wars, in the Korea, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq wars the US has used snipers to kill their perceived enemies. They also use them in conflicts within countries just as they have done in Venezuela during the last 4 weeks where they killed members of the National Guard, including 2 captains, students and workers. Among members of their so-called "elite" special forces, the US used snipers in the cities of Iraq as shown in the photo to target Iraqi soldiers and randomly kill civilians from hidden elevated positions. It was one of the methods they used to defeat one of the last strongholds of the heroic Iraqi people in Fallujah. Snipers are assigned to kill political officials, uniformed military personnel, scientists and other civilians with flat-projectory, scope mounted, high power rifles from distant, hidden positions.

The state/corporate media billed the US snipers in Fallujah as heroes. But it's a cowardly way to fight. Snipers are cowards because they ambush and shoot their enemy "in the back," never facing him in battle. They are revered and admired by people enamored with killing and war but really, their skills are very limited.  By standards used by the US Department of Labor their work would be classified as semi-skilled or unskilled. Any uneducated person with low-to-normal intelligence can be trained to hide, adjust a rifle-scope for height and cross-winds using a few clicks on knobs to locate the point of impact, place the cross hairs on their victim and squeeze the trigger. With the use of laser-sighted rifles it's even more of a no-brainer. Snipers are valued by the US military as a tactic primarily used to demoralize and create panic, in a word -  it is terrorism.

People in some Syrian towns have been so terrorized by snipers, randomly killing ordinary citizens in the course of their daily lives, that the people have to race across a street to buy a loaf of bread with the fear, "I could be next!" Snipers frequently kill people on both sides of a national domestic conflict and blame both sides in order to create hatred, feelings of revenge and divisions, billed as "ethnic conflict" by the western media. They've done the same here in Venezuela in 2002 when their snipers killed both Chavistas and opposition members on April 11. They've been at it again during this Feb-March, 2014 assault, killing members of the National guard, National Police, student protestors and ordinary citizens who simply want to walk or drive their car from one place to another. One of the traps used by snipers here has been to lie in wait in a high-rise building and kill National Guardsmen or ordinary citizens who try to remove a street barricade - placed there by their assassins. Thankfully, the Maduro government has all but put an end to these killings.

The RT news report below describes the killing of two people in Crimea, one a Ukrainian serviceman and the other a member of Crimea's self-defense forces.  These sniper attacks along with other news reports suggest that the US, England and the EU are themselves in panic because finally, a formidable adversary has taken a stand and sent troops to confront them, protecting Russian borders and their neighbors.

2 killed in shooting near Crimea military research center, 'sniper detained'

Two people – a self-defense member and a Ukrainian soldier – were killed after snipers opened fire from a partially inhabited building near a military research center in Simferopol. One sniper was reportedly detained, another is on the run.

As RT producer Lida Vasilevskaya arrived at the scene, the perimeter of the Ukrainian military topography and navigation center was already surrounded by men in camouflage and the situation was "calm."

The local Interior Ministry said in a press release that shooting came from a house under construction opposite the center and targeted Crimean self-defense units as well the military center itself.

“Earlier today self-defense units were informed that a group of armed men had been discovered in a partially inhabited building,” the press release said. “As the self-defense were taking measures to check, they came under fire, presumably from a sniper rifle,” police said, adding that the shooting came “in two directions from one spot.”

One self-defense unit member was killed and another wounded, police said. One Ukrainian soldier from the military research center was also killed, and another was wounded.

Crimea police and Prosecutor's Office staff are investigating the attack.

According to RT information, the scene of the shooting is a small Ukrainian military topography research center, and the majority of the staff who work there are women. The center’s area is rather small, and servicemen have only six machine guns and three Makarov guns to provide security. The center reportedly decided to join up with Crimea and Russia and was preparing paperwork to go over.

RT's source also said one of the snipers was detained.

Crimean Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov told Russia’s Channel One that this attack is reminiscent of the Maidan sniper shootings.

“At the moment two people are dead as a result of a provocation, a sabotage. The situation allows me to conclude that the same techniques that were used at Maidan are being used now because most likely one assaulter fired at both sides – one Ukrainian serviceman and one man from self-defense forces of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea were killed.”

“The location of the sniper was identified,” he added.

Earlier, Ukrainian servicemen told RT that last night unknown groups tried to break into several military bases, but self-defense units managed to prevent them from entering.

“Guys from self-defense told me today that they were afraid of provocations," Lida Vasilevskaya tweeted.

The Crimean Interior Ministry did not rule out a provocation aimed at complicating the situation in the city after Crimea and Sevastopol were accepted into the Russian Federation.
