This veteran of WW2 went on his own parade. In Zaporozhye, the traditional May 9th parade devoted to the Victory of the Soviet people over Hitler's fascist Germany was prohibited this year by the authorities. Out of fear for their lives, residents who normally would participate in this festive occasion hid themselves from view. Despite having 800,000 residents in this city, only ONE veteran went to the parade, defying the government clampdown, and fearless in his astonishingly brave solitude made it his own Parade of victory over fascism! |
