10 people arrested for Serra's murder

According to Venezuela's Attorney General, the government has issued arrest warrants for four more people people involved in the murder of Robert Serra. Luisa Ortega Diaz announced Thursday that 10 people have been arrested so far with arrest warrants issued for four more individuals in connection with the murder of socialist lawmaker, Robert Serra.

Three of the warrants were issued through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) with a red alert.

Ortega confirmed the arrests of Edwin Torres, Carlos Henrique García, Danny Henrique Salinas, Jhonny Padilla Leive, Neira Palomino, Yusmelys Meregote, Raide Jesús Espinoza, Eddy Ricardo Romero, Waly Pacheco and Anaya Nadis Orozco.

The 27 year-old legislator and partner his, Maria Herrera were murdered October 1 in Serra's home in La Pastora, Caracas.

Edwin Torres Camacho, the former head bodyguard for Serra, confessed to authorities how the murder was planned following his arrest. He also informed authorities on the others involved.

According to his sworn statement, a group of Colombian paramilitaries were involved led by Padilla Leive also known as "El Colombia." Padilla Leiva carried out detailed surveillance of Serra for over 3 months and his head bodyguard was paid to help commit the crime.

As such, the attorney general indicated that the investigations have been carried out meticulously and "tactfully considering what is behind all of this." Ortega did not release any further details about the investigation.
