Canadian film director Nettie Wild was given the audience award for best documentary film at the 1998 American Film Institute Fest for A Place Called Chiapas. She also received a Genie Award for this film. As my co-editor notes in his comment below, the story ends in 2009 but you can learn what has happened to the Zapatistas and Sub-Commandante Marcos since then by reading, "Farewell Marcos, long live Subcomandante Galeano!" in Roar Magazine. Many thanks to our resident poet, Mankh, for referring this film to our attention. - prh, Editor Axis of Logic |
