Thailand's king, Bhumibol Adulyadej, died October 13. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1927, he was conferred with the title King Bhumibol the Great in 1987, and served as the ninth monarch of Thailand from the Chakri Dynasty as Rama IX. It is illegal to insult the king in Thailand and charges for doing so in the short aftermath of the death have risen dramatically. But, seriously, people can be forgiven from this point forward.
