Critical Analysis
America's Fantasyland Versus The Las Vegas Reality

If there is anything Americans hate, it's being forced to deal with reality. Some issues requiring realism are: 1) Overpopulation, 2) Climate change, 3) Nuclear weapons, 4) Gun regulation, 5) Money dictating politics and legislation.

But no, America loves fantasyland. The greatest detractor from reality and promoter of fantasyland is religion and its much revered God. The most popular God is the Christian God that Christian theologians tell us is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent.

Think about that: omnipotent  means infinitely powerful, unstoppable, all authority to do whatever He pleases; omniscient means all-knowing, unlimited knowledge, perceiving all things; omnipresent means  present everywhere at the same time.

The Christian God must have these attributes in order to do all the fantastical deeds that He allegedly did in the past and/or promises in the future. These include: create the earth and us humans in the Garden of Eden 6,000 years ago; Moses defeats Egypt's pharaoh, parts the Red Sea and forcibly conquers the Promised Land; God impregnates a virgin so that she gives birth to Jesus; Jesus heals the sick, casts out demons, is crucified and resurrected; dead believers are guaranteed resurrection of their decomposed bodies; Jesus raptures the church up to heaven and comes a second time to defeat the anti-Christ.

America's recent mass murders reveal the Christian God's true capabilities. Where was this God in the 1999 Columbine Colorado massacre? The 2012 Newtown Connecticut murder of 27 children? The 2015 murder of nine worshippers in a Charleston, South Carolina church?  The murder of 49 in an Orlando, Florida night club? And now we have 58 dead and 527 wounded in Las Vegas, Nevada. God's only reality is in the believer's imagination.

The Las Vegas murder provides a template of this God's actions for each of these events. An omniscient God would know in advance what the killer Mr. Paddock planned. An omnipresent God would watch Paddock acquire semi-automatic weapons, then rent a hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel bringing in some 23 guns. An omnipotent God could have stopped Paddock by giving him a flat tire on his car or a heart attack or some other sudden affliction. But no, the Christian God simply did nothing! Why? Because he is non-existent!

Bible stories and Christian theology are one thing, but reality is dramatically different. The reality is, as it relates to protection and/or prevention of homicides, this God is useless, indifferent, inept. If there was such a God, such tragedies would never have happened. One can believe the theological fantasies with absolute certainty. But the only absolute certainty is this God proves Himself a non-entity. Nevertheless, fantasyland Christians adamantly believe themselves not only blessed by this God, but superior to non-believers  simply because they believe. Further, they have the audacity to impose their dogma on America violating the Constitutional church-state wall of separation. This is childish fantasyland gone berserk!

Theologians are very innovative at inventing excuses to exonerate their God. They're favorite strategy makes man's free-will the culprit. Ironically, human free-will then ties the hands of this allegedly merciful God from interfering or preventing any wicked act. The other favorite excuse is the devil made these horrendous events happen. These pitiful mental gymnastics make man's so-called everyday sin and the big bad devil more powerful than the theologian's God. This scenario has been played out for centuries as the God inventors always seek to protect their God's reputation. To paraphrase Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 BCE), If God is neither willing nor able to prevent evil, than why call Him God?

Just think of the progress that could be made if the time, energy, and millions of dollars wasted on religion were devoted to seeking realistic solutions to the problems previously mentioned. America could actually be great! But instead, bible-believing Christianity has made America like its God, indifferent, inept and even elected a President to match. America's future depends on Americans waking up, dropping the childish God distraction and immediately start acting like adults realistically dealing with the major problems facing America.
