shivering before dinner,
the butternut squash soup warmed me
then the thought-feel to call a friend
who is dealing with a loss,
the warmth breeding warmth,
the fire heating a fruit of the Mother Earth
and sending the warming through me . . .
warmth where it needs to go
so long as there is a way
of starting the fire again,
the fire going as it goes
warming
the feelings going
where they need to go
so long as there is a way
of starting the feelings again―
so as to un-hoard the separation,
dispel the holier than thou
