| UN Security Council Vote on Venezuelan Situation - January 26 2019 in New York The US proposed intervention in Venezuela whereas Venezuela proposed dialogue. This is the result of the vote: US: Intervention UK: Intervention Peru: Intervention South Africa: Dialogue Equatorial Guinea: Dialogue France: Intervention Russia: Dialogue Germany: Intervention Poland: Intervention China: Dialogue Indonesia: Dialogue Belgium: Intervention Ivory Coast: Dialogue Dominican Republic: Dialogue Colombia: Intervention Nicaragua: Dialogue Cuba: Dialogue Bolivia: Dialogue Paraguay: Intervention Suriname: Dialogue Argentina: Intervention Mexico: Dialogue Ecuador: Intervention Barbados: Dialogue Chile: Intervention Brazil: Intervention Uruguay: Dialogue Costa Rica: Intervention Dominica: Dialogue El Salvador: Dialogue Honduras: Intervention Antigua y Barbuda: Dialogue Panama: Intervention Result of the Vote:A two-thirds vote is required to accept a proposal. This is the second diplomatic setback in just one week for the US after its defeat in the Organization of American States (OAS). Despite corporate media bias throughout the world invisibilizing the huge Chavista movement in the country, the US has failed to get backing from the majority of the countries on the UN Security Council. The result of the vote culminating in another defeat for the US and a victory for Bolivarian diplomacy meant that neither China nor Russia had to use their veto in the case of a Resolution being passed by the UNSC authorizing intervention – military or otherwise - in Venezuela. Maduro is now dealing with France, Germany, Spain and the UK who all threatened to recognize Guaidó as president if Maduro did not call elections within eight days. Maduro has asked them to withdraw this ultimatum. If they do recognize Guaidó, one can surmise that the diplomatic missions of these countries in Venezuela will be asked to leave. Some massive marches have taken place in the midst of this crisis by Chavistas in the states of Yaracuy, Cojedes, Vargas and Zulia. We hear from other sources that many Chavistas are watching this drama unfold before taking to the streets. © Copyright 2019 by AxisofLogic.com This material is available for republication as long as reprints include verbatim copy of the article in its entirety, respecting its integrity.
