For years all we have heard from Human Rights Watch (HRW) have been accusations that the Chavez government is a mass violator of human rights but never offering any real evidence, only hearsay and slurs from the HRW, the opposition, foreign governments and the corporate media. Despite all the poison lies spread by HRW, opposition groups and by corporate media hacks living it up in expensive hotels in Caracas, last week Venezuela was invited as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). How about that.

The reason for more than a decade of media slander and lies about Venezuela's human rights record? It's simple. For 14 years the Chavez government has taken the profits of transnational corporations, particularly those that have exploited Venezuela's petroleum for at least a century and for the first time, given it to the people to whom it belongs. The government has channeled the wealth of their natural resources into restoration of human rights like health care as-a-human-right, free quality education as-a-human-right (preschool thru university), a nationwide literacy program, and other human rights such as affordable food and housing, a secure and reliable infrastructure including better roads, bridges, water power and sewage systems, safe and reliable public transportation, a national train system, a nationwide agricultural program to free the country from dependence on expensive foreign imports, development of a new, more diverse manufacturing base, replacing a corrupt old banking system created by the old oligarchs with one owned and managed by the people, new laws to protect and enhance the lives of workers, protections for children and programs for the empowerment of women like the Women's Development Bank and much more.

The capitalist regimes in the US, Canada and Europe hate the example the Chavez government has established for Venezuela and increasingly so as similar socialist governments begin to take root and bear fruit in other countries. So the enemies of this country send out their dogs to attack - the dogs of the IMF, WB and international banking cartel and speculators to attack the economy; NGO dogs like USAID, National Endowment for Democracy (sic); Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (sic) to fund and train to overthrow the government; the dogs of the entire western media and Human Rights Watch to malign and destroy the reputation of the Venezuelan government in the eyes of the world .... dogs sent out to put an end to real Human Rights in Venezuela once and for all and to retrieve the lost profits of the banks, corporations, speculators and thieves. But it ain't workin'. Venezuela has been gradually overcoming these attacks and the people of the world have begun to see in Venezuela the kind of life they want from themselves. On November 12, 154 members of the United Nations Human Rights Council recognized this, electing Venezuela into membership for the first time.

¡Felicitaciones República Bolivariana de Venezuela!

Caracas, 12 Nov. AVN.- On Monday vice-minister for North America Claudia Salerno informed that Venezuela was elected as member of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN) for period 2013-2015.

In a direct secret ballot and by an absolute majority, Venezuela won with 154 votes in favor. “Victory!!! Venezuela elected member of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN) 2013-2015: 154 votes. Long live Bolivar. Long live Chavez!!! @tuitesocialista,” she posted on her twitter account.

Also elected on Monday were Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Korea, Ivory Coast, United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Montenegro, Pakistan, Sierra Leone and the United States.

Venezuela's formal membership for period 2013-2015 starts from January 2013.

The Council is an intergovernmental body created in 2006, aimed at strengthening the promotion and protection of Human Rights in the world.

The ambassador of Venezuela to the UN Jorge Valero said his country thanks the "overwhelming" support received at the voting and described the entry as an "unprecedented" victory, over campaigns orchestrated against the South American nation.

The diplomat expressed that Venezuelan government "scrupulously" abides by human rights.

Valero also said that Venezuela obtained more votes than the United States and the Western European countries.
