CNN reports on the prosecution of Steven Green in their article, A day in the trial of ex-soldier convicted of murder in Iraq. Steven Green is the US soldier who raped a nameless 14 year old Iraqi girl, then killed her, her parents and her 6 year old sister, then burned the bodies to hide the evidence. Remi Kanazi points out that in this article CNN shamelessly tries to "humanise" Steven Green, actually trying to elicit sympathy for him.
Putting the prosecution of Steven Green into context: There are many, many Steven Greens who have done similar things to the Iraqi people with impunity. Their rapes and murders have gone unreported, unprosecuted and their victims are left to die or suffer - their suffering unknown except to those who suffer with them.
Moreover, the people who are prosecuting Steven Green and calling for his execution are the arch-criminals behind rapists and killers like Steven Green. They planned these wars and they sent all the Steven Greens to Iraq. They never personally ripped the clothes off an Iraqi woman, never tortured, killed or maimed the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and now, Pakistan with their own hands. People like Steven Green are their "hands". They were in the White House, Pentagon, CIA, CFR and corporate media board rooms in the Bush regime. A lot of them are Zionists. They are still there today, now in the Obama regime, sending more Steven Greens to commit these crimes in these same countries. These are the men and women who are now prosecuting Steven Green.
The Obama regime and their corporate media are all trying to sell a message with their prosecution of Steven Green that goes somethiing like this, "See, when our soldiers commit a crime like this, we bring them to justice." Their prosecution and call for Green's execution is an attempt to make the war sound like a "just war", a "good war" - while masking their own premeditated, horrific and careful planning of these wars, these rapes ... these murders. All those perpetrators of this war should be standing before the bar, just like Steven Green - tried and imprisoned for their war crimes and genocide.
CNN's attempt to humanise Steven Green is their attempt to humanise the war. But there is no "humanity" in war, none that is, except for the most vile and dark secrets that reside in the hearts and minds of these mass rapists and mass murderers. If we are to save ourselves as human beings, we must first understand and come to terms with the dark side of our own humanity. Then we must rid ourselves of the vermin who are executing these wars in our name. We must work unrelentingly until they stand in the bar alongside people like Steven Green, the killers they employ, to carry out their heinous crimes. We must bring them to the just end of their own vacant, miserable lives. Otherwise, history will one day name us as "Bush's willing executioners ... Obama's willing executioners". Our fear of them, of their oppression, their laws, their weapons and their prisons will never - ever - absolve us if we fail to do this, by whatever means necessary.
