August 2, 2009 - Israeli security forces have forcibily evicted two Palestinian families from a contested East Jerusalem neighbourhood. The families have documents proving that the house was built and given to them in 1956 by the UN and the Jordanian government. Israeli colonial "settlers" claim that the houses were theirs prior to the invasion and occupation in 1948.
The families have lived in Sheikh Jarrah since 1956 but an Israeli court ruled that the homes belonged to Jewish families.
