Russell Means, an American Indian of the Lakota Nation, a powerful activist, example for us all and yes, a hero ... passed to the Spirit World early this morning at home in Porcupine, S.D. at age 72. In August 2011 he told the media that hounded him throughout his life that he had developed inoperable throat cancer. At that time he said that he was not afraid of death:

"I'm not going to argue with the Great Mystery, Lakota belief is that death is a change of worlds. And I believe like my dad believed. When it's my time to go, it's my time to go. I've told people after I die, I'm coming back as lightning, When it zaps the White House, they'll know it's me."

We celebrate his life first with a 3 minute humorous and telling excerpt from his talk on The American History Channel 40 years after of the Oglala Lakota Indians and members of the American Indian Movement seized and occupied the town of Wounded Knee, South Dakotain February,1973. This is followed by the 1 hour 35 minute video, "Welcome to the Reservation" which we featured in February 2011 on Axis of Logic.
