Death by a thousand media cuts Printer friendly page Print This

President Hugo Chávez Frias returned to Venezuela from Cuba at 2:30 this morning.

Sixty-four days was the length of the oil industry sabotage and bosses’ lock-out in Venezuela ten years ago from December 2nd 2002 – February 4th 2003 in the failed attempt by the right wing US lackeys to overthrow the democratically elected government of Hugo Chávez. Thirty years ago to the day the Social Christian government of Luis Herrera Campins devalued the Venezuelan bolívar by 86% on the infamous Black Friday February 18th 1983 as the central bank had run out of US dollars and the economy was on the verge of a meltdown after the rich had been tipped off in advance of the devaluation and bought all the dollars they could and moved them offshore.

These unsettling and indeed criminal events may now be behind us but 64 days and February 18th have always had negative connotations for the Venezuelan people. Today, however, on February 18th 2013, exactly thirty years after Black Friday and 64 days after his fourth cancer operation in Havana, Hugo Chávez has returned to Venezuela to continue his post operative treatment at the Military Hospital Carlos Avelo in San San Martín, Caracas.

February18th and 64 may now become more positive in the Venezuelan psyche after today.

After being pronounced dead by a thousand disinformation and repugnant speculative articles both nationally and internationally, all wrapped up in a campaign of hate in the corporate media barely masking the desperate wish for Chávez to die, Venezuela’s constitutional and democratically elected President for the fourth consecutive time has once again confounded his rabid critics. The enemies of the Venezuelan people and the Bolivarian Revolution will now have to choke on their disgusting media campaign now that Chávez has returned in the presidential jet from Havana landing at 02:30am at Simon Bolivar International Airport on the coast of Vargas state near the urbanization of Maiquetia.

Thousands of Chávez supporters are already out celebrating in the Plaza Bolivar and no doubt the fascist media laboratories are already meeting to see how to discredit Chávez’s return. These conspirators received one jolt late last week when four photos of Chávez were published with his two eldest daughters and with Chávez’s return to Caracas their desperation must be reaching boiling point - especially in the wake of survey of voting intentions published at the weekend indicating that defeated opposition presidential candidate, Radonski, would also lose by at least 14 points if a presidential election were called against Executive Vice-president Nicolás Maduro (50% vs. 36%).

Yes, Chávez is back in Venezuela. For how long? We do not know. Is he back to continue his recovery? We assume that this is the case but nevertheless Chávez has been dangerously ill and is still breathing via a tracheotomy after a problematical respiratory infection has been slow in responding to treatment.

We now await further developments on all fronts - both on the President’s recovery and also on how the media will handle its necrophilia strategy now that it has been proven that Chávez did not die “by a thousand media cuts” as so many sick-minded opposition individuals had wanted.

¡Gracias Fidel y Raúl por cuidar a nuestro amado líder!

¡Viva Chávez! ¡Viva la Revolución Bolivariana!
