Guardian editors:

The coverage of the Venezuelan catastrophe is getting very repetitive in The Guardian.

Nothing positive is published - almost never - and no attempt is made to explain the reasons behind the hyperinflation plaguing the nation.

It's always the same stuff regurgitated in one form or another.

Maybe if you were real journalists some research would be carried out as to the causes of the inflation and devaluation of the currency that are the causes of the "catastrophe".

To give you a clue - the money supply has declined by 91% since 2014 so bearing in mind that the definition of inflation is that it is a monetary phenomenon, how can you blindly quote the IMF with absurd figures of one million and ten million percent inflation in today's piece?

Inflation is running around 13,000% this year even based on the figures published by the opposition National Assembly.

No mention is made of US sanctions that prevent Venezuela from making international purchases in US dollars, thus stopping the import of food and medicines, not to mention spare parts for vehicles and the oil industry.

No mention is made of Colombia stopping imports of anti-malaria medicine, for example. No mention is made of a White House decree instructing the Bank of England NOT to repatriate 14 tonnes of Venezuelan gold to our Central Bank?

No mention is made of food being diverted into the black market and sold at speculative prices. No mention is made of why retailers and wholesalers increase prices almost on a daily basis and then the government is blamed when, in fact, it is pure greed and speculation gone wild.

It is only the government food program known as CLAP that has saved many Venezuelans from acute hunger.

There are researchers in Venezuela who explain very well why this catastrophe is happening and it is all part of the regime change being propagated by the US. Why? Could it be due to the fact that Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world; the second largest proven gold reserves; bauxite reserves and uranium; rare metals needed for electronics (coltan)?

So ... why don't you people get a grip and give us a fair shot as you are really being economical with the truth - to put it mildly. You effectively just publish sensationalism about our country.
