Our Children and Yours

Arab children are killed every day in the name of democracy
They have no names
They don't deserve to live
They are faceless
Their death is not acknowledged
Their dreams are worthless
Their families shouldn't mourn their deaths
They don't deserve to be remembered

Child killers are loose where I belong
Children were shot while they were in shelters
They were shot while they were playing
They were shot while they were sleeping, holding their mother's hands
Were they dreaming of good days to come?

Arab children are killed every day in the name of democracy
They will be wrapped in a white sheet
Thrown in a hole
The sand will cover their dead bodies
Their mothers will mourn their death
Knowing that a piece of them had been taken away forever
Arab children have no names
They don't deserve to be remembered

Yet if an American child was killed or shot
Their names would be public
The media would cover the news of their death every day
People would light candles in the spot where they died
Ribbons of different colors would be tied
Flowers would be bought
People would cry on each others shoulders
They would hold each other hand and pray for their soul to rest in peace
The children's dreams would be shared
Counseling would be offered to their families and their friends
Churches will have special memorial services for them
The killer's history would be investigated
Then it would announced that the killer had a mental illness

Why do your children have names but ours don't?
Why do your children have the right to dream but ours dont

Why your children are respected in their death, but ours aren't
Why are killers in your country punished, but in ours aren't

Cant you see why you can move on with your lives but we don't
Cant you see why you celebrate different occasions but we don't

May the killers of our children be punished like yours
May they pay the price of killing our children like yours

Then the souls of our killed children will rest in peace like yours, but our lives will never be like yours
