"Holly" commented on The parasitical relationship: Israel and Gaza. Pumpkins & grapes are "impermissible luxuries":

I am left with the same struggling despairing thoughts from reading John Steinbeck's The Pearl, again.

Such a morally bankrupt people Israel consists of. It has been stated, and by Israel press, that Israelites are wealthier than ever, yet unhappy and depressed. Enveloped in greater wealth than they ever imagined, surrounded in money coming in multiples while the rest of the worlds people struggle to make ends meet - Israelites suffer from another void, money cannot buy it. Moral decay. And probably in equal proportion to the dollars they take in.

Denying children toys and crayons, denying mankind the fruit of nature as if they are some kind of God's. Never mind that not all Israeli's take part in the lack of distribution - they all have a say in this cruel denial of mankind. And the borders and denial does not stop in Israel. The Israel press made it out to be some kind of mystery illness, this lack of happiness, as if the body/mind is a seperate entity from actions. Or seperated from community actions. Doctors refuse to acknowledge wholeness in body and spirit, and prescribe to us as if we are spare parts. The connection cannot be denied the way Israelites are denying Palestinians.

There is sickness in this man 'Colonel Iterman' accusing Palestinan guards of possible "munching on a Bamba" in front of Israeli prisoner. Whether he is claiming this for an excuse to deny Palestinians of what Iterman enjoys, or the colonol is just psychotic, it is disturbing, and it is a sign of a sick cruel leader in charge. With the mentality of a child.

Not just seeking to but being successful in denying others food, water, and pleasure is the accomplishments of a very sick culture in denial.

Palestinians can get their necessities from the rest of the world and be denied pleasures, but not their happiness. Israelites can get money from the rest of the world, and does, but will live morally bankrupted miserable lives being a part of or pawn to others cruelty. What pleasure can come of possessing a kiwi, 'bamba' or cherry when it was given by nature for all men and used as a tool by sick rulers to deprive others? Actually, I can't even believe this has to be written, heard, and discussed. John Steinbeck understood, and [sounded] the alarm.

At one of the unit's meetings, Colonel Oded Iterman, a COGAT officer, explained the policy as follows:

"We don't want Gilad Shalit's captors to be munching Bamba [a popular Israeli snack food] right over his head."

Bamba is a snack made from imported peanut butter from Argentina. What if Argentina deprived Israel of their Bamba's? Would Israelities then be up in arms?

I shudder realizing that Israel has conned some of us into thinking the world is safe while nuclear bombs in are the hands of the sick.

[So that you will know] what bamba is:

Bamba (Hebrew: בַּמְבָּה‎) is a snack manufactured by the Osem corporation in Holon, Israel. Bamba is one of the leading snack foods produced and sold in Israel. It has been marketed since 1963 [1]with no decline in sales. Bamba makes up 25% of the Israeli snack market.[2] The competition has come out with similar products - "Parpar" (Telma) and "Shush" (Strauss-Elite).

Bamba is made from peanut butter-flavored puffed corn. Bamba contains no cholesterol, preservatives or food coloring, and is enriched with several vitamins. Nevertheless it contains high amounts of fat. It has 537 calories per 100 grams. Bamba is certified Kosher by Badatz Jerusalem. Some describe it as "Cheez Doodles without the cheese."

Corn grits are "popped" under high pressure, turning them into long lines of white, puffed, unflavored Bamba. The lines are cut into nuggets and then moved to a drying chamber where they are air-baked for 20 seconds, which gives them a crispy texture. The peanut butter, imported from Argentina, is added at the end. A worker stands on a step above the rotating drums and pours a pitcher of liquid peanut butter into each of the containers. As the drums turn, the nuggets are coated. The hot Bamba is then moved along a conveyor belt to cool before packaging.
