Caracas, May 8.— Certain forces within the Venezuelan opposition are organizing destabilization plots in order to concoct allegations of fraud during the December 2012 elections, President Hugo Chávez denounced today.

According to the President, given that some of these actions are already underway, the government, the people and the Armed Forces must remain vigilant in order to neutralize such efforts.

"The traitorous bourgeoisie, not all of the opposition, has been saying that if I win, it’ll be by fraud. I can just imagine CNN, the United Nations and other countries demanding that Chávez confess and those here looking for blood in order to blame me," he warned during a ceremony distributing newly constructed homes in the state of Miranda.

The strategy being implemented, Chávez, said, is the same one being applied in other parts of the world, although he did not elaborate.

He appealed to supporters of the change process begun in 1999 to repudiate these efforts through peaceful means and called on the opposition he described as rational to distance itself from such machinations.

"We want to work for housing, food, health care, education and employment for our citizens here," he said in La Limonera, where 432 families were benefiting from Venezuela’s Housing Mission.

Chávez reported that this government initiative has as its goal the construction of two million homes over the next six years and is moving forward in the acquisition of land to do so. (PL)
