DEDICATED TO HANS GARRETT BLOUGH January 1, 1972 - June 28, 1990
Hans Garrett Blough (January 1, 1972 - June 28, 1990)
Like most young men, Hans loved his music and Jackson Browne and Pink Floyd were his favorite musicians when he made his crossing to the other side. The photograph above was taken of him driving our rented car during our road trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco in February, 1990. We went to California to visit The University of California at Santa Barbara where he planned to begin undergraduate studies in September, 1990. He died in an accident while riding a golf cart in Boston on June 28, 1990, a month after graduating from Brookline High School.
- Les Blough
Another band whom Hans loved was Pink Floyd. This song is a nine-part Pink Floyd composition written by Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and David Gilmour for their 1975 album, Wish You Were Here. It was written for Syd Barrett (1946-2006), one of the founding members of Pink Floyd. He was a songwriter, guitarist, and painter and fell victim to mental illness in 1968 when he left the band. Shine On You Crazy Diamond opens with a long and beautiful instrumental leading to words written for Syd. - LMB
